controversial cannabis!
Basically cannabis has been around for a long time, its miracle has been puzzling to our ancestors ever since the Neolithic age, which after inhaling the smoke of roasted cannabis seeds, hanfsamen in German or graine de cannabis in French, they will shout for joy, means they are really enjoying it. However, Finland’s recent study has proved that the earlier we start smoking, the more exposed we are to developing psychotic symptoms that can evolve into severe mental illness later in life such as anxiety, feelings of depression, social withdrawal and many more. Of course, frequent drug users run a much higher risk, but even one-time drug users were proven to be extremely vulnerable to developing psychosis. This latest evidence comes to support the point of view that cannabis is by no means a safe drug, as many teenagers believe. As a result, they should regard even one-time smoking as dangerous and be aware that the harmless pot is putting them at a very high risk.
By the year 2000, the debate over the use of cannabis as a medicine continued. Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is known to successfully treat nausea caused by cancer treatment drugs, stimulate the appetites of people diagnosed with acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), and possibly assist in the treatment of glaucoma. However, its use as a medicinal agent is still highly controversial. In 1996, the states of Arizona and California passed laws in making it legal for physicians to prescribe cannabis in the form of cigarettes for treatment of the diseases listed above, governmental agencies continue to oppose strongly its use as a medicine, and doctors who will prescribe it may find their licenses at great risk.
