Olive oil helps prevent heart problems and cancer, and control blood sugar levels and body weight. When used during cooking, it can lower levels of saturated fat by up to 80 percent. Saturated fat is what clogs arteries and spikes bad cholesterol levels.

In the analysis of Oncology, oleic acid in olive oil is said to reduce the effect of genes that turn host cells cancerous. It also protects colon, uterus, and prostate gland cells from carcinogens. In diabetics olive oil lowers triglycerides, lessening the risk of heart disease. Take a cue from the people of the Mediterranean, who have the highest consumption of olive oil in the world. Their obesity levels are lower partly because olive oil contains good cholesterol, and is much easier to burn off during exercise.

  1. I also read that olive oil is the best way to go if one wants to use oil. I’m trying to use it as much as I can…especially in place of butter.
