boys outgrow asthma than girls
More boys have childhood asthma than girls, but boys are also more likely than girls to outgrow the condition. A new study shows that airway hyperactivity starts to wane equally in both boys and girls with childhood asthma until age 11. However, around puberty the level of hyperactivity is constant and more severe in girls than in boys. Why airway hyperactivity still manifests in girls past puberty is unknown, but it may be linked to hormonal factors, say researchers.
